At Oiki, we nourish a deep passion for golf. Among all the different sports we follow, golf is what we feel the closest to us, by genetics in a way, as it’s been passed on to us by our family.
Where does this bond come from?
It’s hard to explain, especially to those who have never played golf and consider it a “useless” sport from an athletic point of view.
To us, the best explanation to this passion is the one written by Dino Buzzati in his novella “Golf: una passione irresistibile” (Golf: an irresistible passion):
“In the long term, people who live in the city end up forgetting what a lawn, a wood or a bush is. They don’t know what’s the silence of the countryside like, which colour the stubbles are, what does the forest wind sound like. A barrier has been created between man and nature. A barrier which a distracted Sunday out-of-town walk cannot certainly eliminate. Now, the golf player, by moving forward in the pitch’s labyrinths, meets, rediscovers and restarts to love all those forgotten things…”.
“So maybe, without even realising, we go back to the heart of the green nature, our mother, and we rediscover the pure sensations of when we were children and a corner of grass, a tree, a river became the fictional characters of our fabulous adventures.”
